Garageband Doesn' T Pick Up Mac Mic

Posted on  by
I am trying to set up my recording equipment and I have encountered difficulty getting garageband to recognize that I have a mic plugged into my interface. My mbox mini is hooked up to my computer, garageband allows me to use it for my audio output (monitors I have hooked up to the mbox), but i have not been able to pick up any sound with my external mic (an AT2035 cardioid capacitor mic).
I have selected the mbox as the audio input for garageband. When I go to the real instrument track info, the three options I have for input source are mono 1, mono 2, and stereo 1/2. None of those three options have resulted in sound being picked up by garageband. None of those options allow me to control the recording level bar which remains dimmed. I am very new to recording and don't know where to begin in solving this problem. I would be so thankful for any help.

  1. In the App Store, tap Updates. Find GarageBand in the list. If you see Update next to GarageBand, tap Update. If not, skip this step.
  2. If you use Audio Units Extensions or Inter-App Audio apps as instruments or effects with GarageBand, check with the manufacturer for updates.
  3. If you use an external audio interface, disconnect it. If GarageBand works, you might need to update or service your audio interface.
  4. Delete any Audio Units Extensions or Inter-App Audio apps.
  5. Create a new song, then play it. If it works, check your other songs and solo tracks to see which one caused the issue.
  6. Reset GarageBand. Go to Settings > GarageBand, then tap Reset GarageBand. When you reset GarageBand, your song files, presets, or patches aren't affected. Other custom settings, such as the 24-bit audio resolution and Multitrack Recording settings, are reset to factory defaults.
  7. Back up any songs on your device. Then delete GarageBand and redownload it.

Feb 27, 2018  The snowball lights up to show it is connected. This is a computer related or windows 10 issue, I just can't figure it out at all.I have no idea why this is happening. The snowball is set to default device and there is no sound picked up even when i set it as default on any program. The bars that pick up sound in the sound manager are not moving. May 13, 2017  The plug/jack it comes with is NOT compatible with Macbooks, doesn't even recognize anything is plugged in. I bought a USB converter to use with it and now it recognizes the mic, but doesn't pick up any sound. When I try to record on GarageBand, it does not work and no sound is even audible. One of my worst purchases in regards to microphones.

Free sound effects. We can only make mappings for hardware that we have. As you can see, most of the mappings for Mixxx are for controllers that have been discontinued. You can help us fix that by contributing a mapping for your controller. We are getting ready for a big release of version 1.12 after more than two years of development.
